Take measures to make Short Service Commission more attractive

The aims and objectives of Short Service Commission are to address shortage of officers at Unit level, reducing promotional pressure in the pyramidical structure of the Armed Forces by way of early exit etc.

It has been the constant Endeavour of the Government to make Short Service Commission (SSC) more attractive. These include extending time based promotion to the substantive rank of Captain, Major and Lieutenant Colonel after 2, 6 and 13 years of reckonable service respectively to SSC officers, increase in tenure of SSC officers from 10 years to 14 years, grant of re-employment to SSC officers after 14 years of service.
