Re-orientation of herbal plants board to encourage farming of herbal plants

The National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB) set-up in November 2000 by the Government of India has the primary mandate of coordinating all matters relating to medicinal plants and support policies and programmes for growth of trade, export, conservation and cultivation. Details about the various ayurvedic medicine, research and development, cost effective cultivation, proper harvesting etc. are available.

The centre will be a one-stop shop for all matters related to medicinal plants in the southern region, covering Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and the Union Territories of Lakshadweep, Puducherry, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Its objectives include production of quality planting materials, and quality control.

Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National AYUSH Mission (NAM) has a component on “Medicinal Plants”.
