Home Minister Rajnath Singh launched a digital portal under the CCTNS project which aims to create a national database of criminals and also connect 15,398 police stations in the country with each other. During this event, Mehrishi took the opportunity to make the announcement of governments plan to digitalize physical police verification.
Given the present state when the databases are so vulnerable to hacking, the home secretary was asked about its safety. Replying to this query he said that the possibility of hacking is always there but special measures are being taken to get it protected and the National Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Centre has been roped in for the task. Along with the aforementioned facility, the digital police portal will also provide the citizens with the facility to register a complaint online and request for antecedent verification.
